Field day guide: Cowboys, disc golfers and 'plein air' artists

You know the old saying 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.' Don't be like Jack - make some plans now to have some fun. Here are a few ideas to get you out and about:

Beaver State Fling

Around 300 disc golfers, both pro and amateur, will be competing in the Beaver State Fling disc golf tournament from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30 at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada. It's free to watch - you just have to pay a $5 day use fee for the state park.

Plein Air & More

For years, the natural beauty of Cannon Beach has beckoned artists from around the world to capture unique elements of the landscape 'en plein air' or 'in the open air.' To celebrate the challenging artistic style and the work of the artists, the Cannon Beach Gallery Group is presenting their 5th Annual Plein Air & More festival from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30. Artists will create their pieces on location throughout town and on the beach, and will be showcasing their work at gallery receptions.
