Flooding at Sherwood junkyard causes concern

By KATU Web Staff

SHERWOOD, Ore. - All the rain has flooded a wrecking yard near Sherwood, causing some to worry about the impact on the environment.

The Tualatin Riverkeepers sent KATU video of the U-Pull-It yard, which is located on 99W near Sherwood and is bordered by Rock Creek and the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.

An oily sheen can be seen on the water. The Riverkeepers say 21,000 birds were counted at the refuge earlier this week.

The groups says it has notified the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
