You're not the only who has eyes that hurt after long computer sessions

If you're spending much of your work day -- or even your leisure time -- in front of a computer, your vision may be at risk.

According to Dr. Allison Summers, an assistant professor of opthamology at OHSU, 9 of 10 people have reported some kind of irritation from staring at a screen.

Summers said to use the 20/20 rule.

"For every 20 minutes that you're doing work, take a 20 second break and look out a window or down across a room or down a hallway and let your eyes relax," she said.

Then every two hours, take a 15 minute break. If that doesn't work, eye drops might help. Properly setting up your desk is also important, the doctor said.
