Owners of lost pets turn to new Web site for help
By Angelica Thornton KATU News and KATU Web StaffUNDATED – Anyone who has pets knows how frustrating looking for a lost one can be. Now, an Internet site is hoping to make it easier to find your wayward Weimaraner or fleeing feline by alerting your neighbors that Fifi is on the loose. Findtoto.com is a fee-based service that will call your neighbors and ask them to look out for your pet should they get lost. It’s similar to an Amber Alert for lost children. The call give the pets description and owner’s contact information. The information is also posted on the Findtoto.com Web site. One woman who lost her cat but had the service said neighbors immediately called her to say they had seen her missing animal. Her husband was able to track down the cat after a caller let him know it was hiding in some bushes a few blocks from home. Findtoto.com officials said they get about 300 orders each month and said they find 2 out of 5 pets they post online. Findtoto.com is exempt from the national Do Not Call List since they are not trying to sell a product when they call. |
