We're in the midst of the spring-cleaning season, but have you ever heard of cleaning your roof? According to the consumer review website Angie's List, you might want to start.

Having great curb appeal can add to the value of your home, and a quick fix to increase your curb appeal is by making sure your roof is clean. Roofs can take a beating during the winter months and if you've noticed moss, mold or algae, now is the time to get your roof cleaned.

According to professional roof cleaning contractor Michael Spiczenski, that service doesn't have to break the bank.

"Roof cleaning is a lot more affordable than what people might think. Generally speaking, I'm usually asked what is the cost of roof cleaning and I tell people it's anywhere between 3-5 percent of overall replacement costs," says Spiczenski.

Angie's List says a roof cleaning can cost from $350 to $1,200. The cost varies depending on the degree of infestation as well as the size and pitch of the roof.

However, having your roof professionally inspected every two to three years could help prolong its overall health.
