SEATTLE - Suncoast Vacations left the Portland area March 5 without comment after KATU News confronted them about their claims they offered free airline tickets and 5-star accommodations on the cheap for a $3,000 buy-in.

They then showed up in Seattle reportedly as Suncoast Travel, offering the same pitch. The seminar was held just blocks from the Space Needle.

Attendees said they received phone calls and postcards offering two free domestic airline tickets if they attended the seminar and that no purchase was necessary to get the tickets.

They said Suncoast promised them "exclusive" travel deals if they paid a fee, which started around $3,000.

Rick Young told KATU News that after paying the fee, he could not find any deals on the company's Web site that were not available elsewhere online.

Young said that when he called the Florida-based company, he was shocked when a woman on the other end of the phone told him she could not point him to any deal on the site that could not be found elsewhere online.

When asked about the deals offered by the company, a Suncoast salesman who said his name was Joe asked that KATU News submit questions to them in writing.

Suncoast will reportedly move on to more seminars in more cities after leaving Seattle.

In an email to KATU News, a Suncoast representative said the company does not offer "exclusive" deals and that anyone thinking they would receive free airline tickets just for attending their seminar is "misinformed."

The Washington Attorney General's office said they have not yet received any complaints about Suncoast, but that the company did not have a Washington business license.

The company was also operating in Oregon without a business license.
