PORTLAND, Ore. - Friends and family gathered together on Monday to say goodbye to a Portland broadcasting legend.

Jim Bosley died last Sunday from congestive heart failure. He was 73.

Bosley, nicknamed "The Boz," was a longtime icon at KATU, where he anchored the weather department for over 30 years. He started work at the station in 1962.

He was also the popular host of KATU's morning show, AM Northwest, which he hosted from its inception in 1975 until his retirement 25 years later.

At his memorial service in southwest Portland, those who knew him honored his life and legacy.

"I think I speak for everyone in saying we were all very lucky to be touched by Jim Bosley," said former KATU Meteorologist Rob Marciano, who now works at CNN. "He was truly an extraordinary human being."
