LINCOLN CITY, Ore. - Enjoying the great outdoors shouldn't break the bank but with gas prices soaring above $4 a gallon, it certainly can.

So when State Parks Day rolled around this past weekend (offering a free night of camping at any state park), this avid RVer was more than happy to take advantage of the deal by heading over to Devil's Lake State Park in Lincoln City.

While a bit soggy the first day (in fact, some of the campground spots were flooded), the second day turned out to be absolutely fantastic with nothing but blue sky and sunshine.

A tent with its own built-in porch... nice setup!

No matter how many times I see a yurt, I still think they're funny-looking.

The 'Honey' RV - cute!

Good thing I left the sandals in the trailer.

Beatin' feet because we heard tell of free food for all the campers.

Yep... there's the free food (word sure got out fast!)

My free burger.  Yum!

A big thanks to the volunteers for doing all the cooking!

J.R. Beaver showed up with freebies for the kids.

Lots of kites in the air - this was the most beautiful one.

I can't believe this bird stood still for the photo!

How sweet!

Looks like she's got her hands full!

Sportin' the beach hat.

Didn't these things used to be a quarter?

Taking in the view by way of a comfy log.
