Even Further: Ken Kesey honored high school
By KVAL.com staffSPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- When a school counts Ken Kesey among the alums, the contrast between crisp cheerleading uniforms and a tie-dyed school bus can sometimes disappear.
Kesey died in 2001. Thursday would have been his 74th birthday. The 70-by-17 inch art panel took students in the Glass and Graphics taught by Karen Perkins more than a year to complete. Tori Gatlin, Michael Silva, Jared Allison and Shalvin Prasad wored on the project. Students in Kathy Harrington's English class who were reading Kesey books last year are credited with the idea. The bus Further and a band of pranksters joined the celebration. KVAL photojournalist Bill Goetz produced this video essay on the event:
