Apple cuts MacBook Pro price, updates processors

CUPERTINO, Calif. (AP) — Apple says it has lowered the price of its 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops by $200 and updated its processors. It also launched new models with faster processors and more memory.
Apple Inc. said Wednesday that the MacBook Pro with "Retina" display and 128 gigabytes of flash memory will now cost $1,499, down from $1,699. A new model with 256 gigabytes of flash will cost $1,699.
The 15-inch model has a faster processor and the same price.
Apple unveiled the new MacBook Pro models last fall. It has flash memory instead of the traditional hard drive, which makes it thinner and lighter.
Apple reported a surprising decline in Mac sales in the final quarter of 2012. It sold 4.1 million of them, down 22 percent from shipments a year earlier.

Apple products are not that secure they are jailbreak and different kind of security flaws on themÂ
http://itechbook.net/b/Im4Still overpriced, it might be justifiable once they're manufactured in the US, but for now they're the same Chinese-made computers like anything else.Â
@PDXguy23 funny that on average a pc laptop lasts about 2-3 years before it craps out while I know several people that still have fully functional macs from the early 2000s.
Keep shorting Apple stocks. They are still over priced. I might get back into the game as this price drop will cut into their profit.

That may be true but look at those machines. They are junk with high repair rates and poor resale value.

The molded aluminum case of a new MacBook Pro is really a nice machine plus I can run Windows, Linux and OSX all at the same time.
@RalphCramden @TheUglyTruth Absolutely not true. Apple computers are no more reliable than PC's running Windows or Linux and are just as venerable to malware, even more venerable because Apple users tend to be less tech savvy.

Apple is ranked in the top three of best computers for reliability, customer service and overall satisfaction in most survey's. It also has the highest resale rate as a percentage of original cost of any computer out there. In fact the older the computer gets the more resale value it has above it's competition.
As for getting viruses there are way more out there for Windows than there is for Apple. You may be right about Apple uses being less tech savvy but there are only a few viruses out there currently and all have been dealt with by Apple.
The big advantage with Apple is that they control everything from hardware to software to customer service. I have 12 Apple products currently and all of them have been flawless. My best friend is always having to get his HD reformatted and he has a Lenovo. So far his has been in the shop 2 times in 2012 for issues. I use my Apple way more than he does and it has been in the shop once to get the rubber foot replaced.Â
@RalphCramden@TheUglyTruthSome of them are junk and some of them are great. I don't see how you can generalize all non-Mac laptops in a certain price range as junk since there's so much variety out there. You can get a pretty good Windows laptop for around $600-700. Resale value? Computers become obsolete within a few years, I pity anyone who would buy a used Mac at such a steep price.
@RalphCramden @TheUglyTruth And all you do with it is hang out here. What a shame.

It's a nice diversion from trading stocks and doing research for school. Watching stock tickers go by all day is pretty boring.
