PORTLAND, Ore. – Facebook may owe you money, thanks to a class-action lawsuit.
But don’t count on getting rich off the deal.
The $20 million settlement stems from Facebook using people’s names, photos, likenesses and identities in sponsored ads without their permission.
When the social networking site went public, many users demanded to know when they would get paid for all that sharing.
Facebook began notifying people that they owed them $10, but you may have deleted an email announcing it because it looks like spam. It comes from a sender called “Legalnotice@facebook.com.”
If your likeness or photo wasn’t used, you won’t get a dime.
As part of the settlement, Facebook denies any wrongdoing or liability.
