MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) - A Meridian Police Officer says students shouldn't use social media until age 16 and have no more than 200 Facebook friends to reduce the chances of cyber bullying and predators.

School Resource Officer Dave Gomez tells the Meridian Press that internet bullying is one of the biggest problems students face.

He says the second biggest problem is students sending naked photos of themselves to other students.

Gomez recently gave a presentation to sixth-graders at Lewis and Clark Middle School.

One of his methods for teaching students is to set up fake Facebook accounts. One appears to belong to a 13-year-old girl.

He says thousands of students across the school district have "friended" him on the fake account. He says students should never friend someone they don't personally know.
