Yelp to add restaurants' health-inspection grades

NEW YORK (AP) - Reviews site Yelp is adding restaurants' health-inspection grades to its site, giving users yet another filter through which they can decide where to eat.
Yelp Inc. said Thursday that city-provided health-score information will be available in San Francisco first. Restaurant grades in New York City will be added in the coming weeks.
San Francisco-based Yelp says its engineers have been working with the cities in designing technology that lets municipalities publish inspection information on its website.
For San Francisco businesses, the new program displays restaurant health scores - for example, 92 out of 100. Clicking on the number takes users to a page with more detailed information about the restaurant's recent inspections. In New York, restaurants are given letter grades of A, B or C by health inspectors.

Good. I'm happy to see this. You know in the UK each restaurant has to post there "grade" on there front door / window so patrons can see what it is before they decide to dine. I think this could be something we adopt here. You should have a right to know if someone is being responsible with the food you are about to eat.
@Liberty4_WA They do in that NYC too.
Yelp should have started here instead of "user" reviews.
Â
A place can get a lot of positive reviews and send a LOT of people home with stomach issues.
Â
"Yelp Bombing" (you hear it here first Think Google Bomb for Yelp reviews) has become a trend for Restaurants to drum up business.
Â
This might cool that a little bit.
