Kids playing with fake gun cause quite a scene

ALOHA, Ore. - Kids playing with a fake gun while riding along in an SUV created quite a scene in Washington County Friday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. at 197th and TV Highway when Washington County dispatchers got a call from a motorist who reported seeing a shotgun being stuck out of the window of an SUV.

Sheriff's deputies, following their usual procedure, performed a felony traffic stop on the vehicle in question.

By the time the adult in the SUV told the kids to stop messing around, police already had them surrounded. Once the deputies made sure everyone was out of the vehicle and secured, they realized the gun was fake and stood down.

There were five children and one adult in the vehicle. They were all eventually released.  According to police, the kids had apparently been pointing the gun at kids they knew in another vehicle.
