Phone number in voter's pamphlet gives callers unusual option
By Associated Press
SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A letter from Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury in the state Voters' Pamphlet urges people to call an 800 telephone number if they need assistance.
Callers to that number are directed to another 800 number. Rather than help with the May 20 primary, callers to that number are offered "an exciting new way to go one on one with hot...girls." But that's only if they have a credit card. The wrong number appears in Bradbury's letter to voters on the second page of the state publication that was sent to 1.7 million households last week. The correct number appears in about a dozen other places in the election guide. Bradbury apologized for the gaffe and asked Oregon voters not to call the wrong number. The right number is 1-866-673-8683. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
