PORTLAND, Ore. - A Portland woman who recently gave birth said she woke up June 9 to find an intruder in her bedroom who was licking her back.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she at first thought it was her dog but when she turned to look, she saw a man next to her bed. She says she did not know who he was.

She also said she later realized her underwear had been cut in two places. Her 2-week old baby was in the bed with her at the time, she said.

The woman said the man grabbed her wrist and told her not to scream, but that he was not aggressive. She said he kept asking her to see parts of her body, but she refused.

She said the man eventually gave up and left. She then called police.

A short time later, officers arrested Ismond Hale, 20, at a nearby apartment.

Hales's sister told KATU News that her brother is a "good person" and that the accusations were out of character.

Hale's girlfriend claims he was at a friend's home waiting for a ride to work at the time of the incident. She said that it was a case of mistaken identity.

She said Hale was a devoted father to their young daughter and was working hard to graduate from high school.

The victim said she is sure Hale was the man that was in her room. She said he used a patio table and chair to get onto a balcony outside her second-floor apartment.

The woman's father has since installed a video security system.

Hale pleaded not guilty to multiple charges on Wednesday.
