West Linn police: Who is this man?
Best Buy surveillance video WEST LINN, Ore. - Police in a town recognized as one of the "best places to live in America" are asking for the help identifying a man they said is shopping around town using another resident's missing credit card. The card was used to buy groceries, gas and electronics before being canceled by the bank. There's also a mysterious twist to this missing-credit-card case that has everyone involved scratching their head. On Sept. 19, a West Linn resident reportedly contacted West Linn police about fraudulent use of a credit card. According to police, the victim reported that one of the family's credit cards was missing and being used throughout the metro area. The card reportedly went missing from the wife's purse. "They're at a loss, the family is at a loss, the kid's are out of state in college, and this is quite the head scratcher," West Linn Sergeant Neil Hennely told KATU.com. A search of the husband's wallet uncovered that his copy of the new card was gone. Police were notified, and after extensive investigation West Linn police are turning to the public to try to learn how the new card was taken and who is using it. "The man is using the card at many of the same places, to go grocery shopping at places like Zupan's and QFC and to buy electronics at places like Best Buy," Hennely said. The man apparently also has used the card for gasoline. "We've interviewed all of the clerks, and one described him as pale, almost sickly looking," Hennely said. "And sometimes he wears glasses." |
