NEAR FREEPORT, Texas - Shrimp boat captain Ed Keisel was 55 miles off shore from Freeport, Texas, when his pregnant cook went into labor.

With no time to get back to shore and no medical help nearby, Keisel grabbed his handy first aid manual, sterilized some supplies and went to help the mother.

But as the baby emerged, Keisel realized the baby was being born breach, which is feet first instead of head first. A breach birth can be very dangerous to the newborn.

After the delivery, Keisel administered CPR to the newborn for about 25 minutes until the baby boy began to breathe on his own.

Baby Brian weighed in on the fish scale at 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and is reportedly healthy.
