Man finds knife in back 3 years after stabbing

YELLOWKNIFE, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES (AP) - A Canadian man was just scratching what he thought was an old itch this week when it turned out to be a knife blade that had been buried in his back for almost three years.
Billy McNeely said this week it all goes back to an April, 2010, birthday party in McNeely's home town of Fort Good Hope, Northwest Territories. McNeely got into a fight over an arm-wrestling contest and was stabbed five times. A doctor stitched him up back then and never took X-Rays.
Ever since, McNeely would set off metal detector and he's had a lump in his back where the knife went in. It never stopped nagging him and grew more painful this week.
Doctors dug out a blade measuring about 2.7 inches.

We've all know people like that...stab you in the back and leave the blade...
Hope they return it to him as a memento!
this is what happens when doctors don't get proper training in the game "operation"
cheap chinese knife
In other news....the dish ran away with the spoon.
You can bet that the guy that stabbed him knows when and where the blade of his knife disappeared. Â He probably asks, "Sooo... how ya feelin' today Billy?" and Billy's thinking, "Why does he keep asking me that?".
I wonder how long it will take him to find the fork and spoon.....
@WendyTeagarden  I don't think we even want to imagine where they're hiding...
Great doctor he had there. Although I think I would start being concerned if I kept setting off metal detectors...
Well at least he finally got rid of that itch.
@Kushfan Did you forget a letter and imply his wife????
@WendyTeagarden She's a real cut up.
what a hump back
A good lesson for all, never turn your back on a backstabber.
Many, many facets to this one. Â I checked, Ft. Good Hope has a population of 560, the only way in or out of town is by plane (boat in the summer). Â So there's this tiny isolated community in the middle of no where and at birthday parties they have arm wrestling, which apparently they take very seriously (thus the stabbing, right?). Â I'm gonna go out on a limb and make a guess that there was a bit of drinking at this party....maybe he imbibes a bit too much to have not noticed a KNIFE BLADE IN HIS BACK FOR 3 YEARS. Â When you've got a 'bump' in your back and you're setting off metal detectors...eh, who can figure out Canadians? Â
@Sundowner You live on enough pain killers and anything is possible!
@negativerep I was thinkin' Yukon Jack....maybe a combo?
@Sundowner LMAO It has nothing to do with being Canadian... There are women who have apparently been unaware that they were pregnant. Until they went into labor. This world, I must admit, is pretty crazy at times.
JC!!!!!! How do you not know you have a knife in your back???????
@dkgiovenco Same way people complain of migraines and one year finally go and get an x-ray, and there are nails or whatnot in their head. -.-;;; Nutty world!
@advocatus diaboli @dkgiovenco Oh, man -- I hate it when that happens to me!
Sometimes at work, I feel like like I've had a knife in my back for years on end...
Hahaha. Now that is one tough guy, who is going to be driving a new truck soon.
@old_dollor  NW Territories...he got stabbed at a birthday party at his own home....that boy likes to party like Tombstone 1869.  I once took my dog to a vet and she didn't do any x-rays but just sewed the dog up country Dr. style. Chances are this guy didn't want any more medical attention or he just went to a country vet for treatment. Either way, it's difficult to see a free new truck in his future.
I see lawyers in this man's future.
