Vt. town says woman's pet house pigs must go

ESSEX, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont woman considers her pigs to be pets, but town officials say they're farm animals and have no business living in a residential neighborhood.
The zoning board in Essex has given Florence Gruber and Alan Tsefrekas until Jan. 22 to remove an estimated 30 to 40 miniature potbellied pigs from their home.
Gruber told the board Thursday that her pigs use litter boxes and that the adult animals weigh 50 to 100 pounds. She's given them names like Larry, Nadia, Olive and Snow White Sleepy Girl.
The Burlington Free Press reports that neighbors told the board that the pigs must go.
Gruber says the pigs are up for adoption.

I wonder what her house looks like.... Â
What if they were the pygmy ponies?
Just me 'n the pygmy pony over the Dental floss bush.
My niece just brought her pet miniature pot bellied pig to a family party. That thing was perfectly cute and acted
just like a dog. Wagging tail, getting its front legs on your lap asking for hand outs, the whole shooting match.
One they they are NOT is cuddly. Very stiff bristle hair skin not all that cozy. Cute little critter though.
Â
Miniature potbellied pigs, just right for a miniature potbellied barbaque grill.
30 to 40 of any pet inside a home is too many. She's going to forget to feed them one day and they will gang eat her.
Pigs are omnivores. One of them almost ate my stepfather but he got away, saddly.
That is an awful lot of pigs to have in the house! Must look like a pig sty inside?
I can fit one of those on my smoker.
30 to 40 of them... and they use litter boxes..? Â Â Boy, these 2 people must do nothing but clean litter boxes with that many of these little pigs there..! Â Â I've read that they're supposed to be pretty good pets, but that many of them...wow..!
IÂ l-o-v-e cats, but I'd never have even HALF that number all at once..! Â Â
I guess she didn't read the "Hogs Eat Farmer" story.  And please, piggy lovers, don't give a long explanation how pot-bellied pigs are 'different' than farm hogs.....so are javelinas, but that doesn't mean someone should hoard them inside their home.  Wonder if she's related to Honey Boo Boo?
Num num num num..... It's...... BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 @Peregrine LOL!
"30 to 40 miniature potbellied pigs"

I'm no psychiatrist, but I'm thinking she's got problems beyond the pigs.
Send in the Baconator!!!
Send 'em down to DC. There's a whole bunch of pigs there and they could live with them.
Four legs good, two legs bad?
@Kushfan ........some animals are more equal then others.
@Rob C 503 Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
my huband is a pig but they told me I could keep him.
 @WendyTeagarden LOL!
