New Old Macdonald golf course at Bandon Dunes opens soon
BANDON, Ore. - In just one week, Bandon Dunes will open it's highly anticipated fourth course at the resort.
Just in time for summer, Old Macdonald is already creating quite a buzz with golfers.
Old Macdonald doesn't officially open for another week, but reservations to play the links are already on the books.
"The course is completely booked up the first day and the subsequent days after that," said General Manager Hank Hickox.
The highly anticipated opening of the 18 hole course has created excitement among Bandon Dunes staff and the golf community.
Over two years in the making, Old Macdonald pays tribute to golf's roots in Scotland and Ireland, and one of the sport's most recognized figures, Charles Blair Macdonald.
Bandon Dunes Head Golf Professional Jeff Simones said the course plays much like the three others at the resort but does have some differences.
Simones said "it's the best representation of old links golf. It's a good challenge but it's very fair."
And resort staff are hoping that challenge, will peak the interest of golfers worldwide, to come and tackle this course.
Old Macdonald opens next Tuesday, June 1.
