Skibowl to open on Saturday

Mt. Hood Skibowl, the closest ski resort to Portland, has announced plans to begin operations starting this Saturday, November 14.

This is the earliest opening for Skibowl since 1994, according to Hans Wipper, operations manager of the mountain. 

“In a perfect season, Skibowl is open for Thanksgiving weekend and it looks like we are off to better than perfect start,” said Wipper. 

The earliest opening day in recent years was November 11, back in 1994.  Opening dates over the past four years were: 

  • December 14, 2008
  • November 30, 2007 
  • November 25, 2006
  • December 1, 2005.

Skibowl will be open Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, operating   the Multorpor and Lower Bowl Chairlifts, the parking lot rope tow and the platter tow.

All services including the ski school, food and beverage, rentals, retail and ticketing will be open also.
