PORTLAND, Ore. - A warning as you plan that camping trip for this spring or summer - be wary that some Web sites offering you information on camping and RV reservations may not have the goods.

One example is the Ultimate RV Travel Tool Web site.

According to the Better Business Bureau, they are getting complaints from customers who say they are signing up for the free trial offer advertised on the site, but are then ending up having to pay. Others report that the Washington-based company does not have the connections and discounts as promised.

We called the owner of the Ultimate RV Travel Tool for comment and received a call back saying they did not know what we were talking about.

So how can you stay safe? Here are tips from the Better Business Bureau:

  • Beware of companies that claim to be affiliated with big name resorts or campsites. Get proof.
  • Look out for fake testimonials.
  • Read all the fine print carefully before clicking on a free offer.
  • Don't fall for limited time offers.
