MOUNT HOOD, Ore. - The snow may have melted away from the Portland area but it's piling up in the Cascades and that's good news for skiers and snowboarders hoping to get in some stellar runs.
"It is just the lightest, most powdery snow," said Dave Tragethon with Mount Hood Meadows. "It's just so much fun to go out there and just plow through this powder. I mean, this is just epic conditions."
Similar conditions are reported at Willamette Pass Ski Resort, where over a foot of new powder hit the the slopes in the last day.
"This is the kind of stuff you normally have to get on an airplane to go and find," said resort manager Randy Rogers.
Friday is your best bet if you're thinking of packing up the skis or snowboard and heading up to the mountains. The skies will be sunny and the powder will be good.
