DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - While the Boze Fire has reached over 8,000 acres, officials say the flames and firefighters are not their only concern.

With bow season wrapping up and rifle season opening next weekend, fire officials say one of their biggest concerns is hunters in the area.

With the incredible speed and erratic behavior of the fire, hunters are encouraged to stay as far back as possible.

Kris Erickson, the NIMO Public Information Officer says, "It really has grown in a lot of directions and so that would be the smartest thing to do, because we don't want to have to go in and put someone else's life at risk to come and find someone or save them."

Tom Cable, the Incident Commander, told us about the road closures, saying, "We've established a plan this evening to put road closures and area closures into effect. Now we'll have people out looking in these zones if you will, ahead of the fire to make sure nobody's in there."

Fire officials highly recommend checking ahead of time with your local fire ranger district for road closures and fires before heading to the woods this season.
