Stub Stewart State Park has added an interpretive store to its list of visitor amenities.

Housed in the park's L.L. "Stub" Stewart Welcome Center, the Discovery Depot Interpretive Store is now open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Its products include walking sticks, toys, birding guides and other nature and recreation-oriented books. All proceeds from sales go to the non-profit Friends of L.L. Stub Stewart State Park and Banks-Vernonia Rails to Trails.

The welcome center is just off the park's main road near its entrance on Oregon Highway 47. The center's Discovery Depot also includes an interpretive area as well as the park's campground registration window and offices.

Volunteers are needed to help serve store visitors on Saturdays. Anyone interested should contact friends group store committee chair Karlene Thompson at 503-324-0606, or Karlene.Thompson@radisys.com.

Stub Stewart State Park includes two RV campgrounds, a hike-in camp, a horse camp,15 cabins, a hilltop day-use area and nearly 15 miles of trails. The Banks-Vernonia State Trail winds through the park, which is four miles north of the U.S. 26-Highway 47 intersection, 31 miles west of Portland.
