A search is on for a missing 71-year-old hunter last seen in the Twin Lakes area in the Umpqua drainage, about 56 miles east of Roseburg.

Bobby Gumm was surfing with friends when, according to witnesses, he was thrown 10 feet into the air by the marauding shark, which witnesses said was a Great White shark between 15 and 20 feet long.

Officials say 36-year-old Robert Bartlett of St. Maries was putting a rifle in a vehicle Saturday when it discharged, striking Connor Bartlett. The boy died on the way to the hospital.
