Ashton Eaton will speak to Oregon Senate

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Olympic gold medalist Ashton Eaton will speak to the Oregon state Senate on Thursday.
Senate President Peter Courtney's office says Eaton is expected to thank senators for their support of Oregon's Olympic athletes and the track-and-field trials in Eugene. The state paid $550,000 to help the City of Eugene with security costs for the 2012 Olympic trials.
Eaton will speak for a few minutes at the beginning of the Senate session, during a time typically reserved for a prayer or invocation.
Eaton graduated from Mountain View High School in Bend and went to the University of Oregon. He won gold in decathlon in the 2012 Olympics and set a world record in the Olympic trials.

Yeah, we wouldn't want a prayer or invocation now would we? Oregon is awash in public tax money and just can't spend it fast enough. We need motivational speakers in the legislature to motivate those folks towards something that ALL Oregonians need and want, not just feel good speeches by folks who win Olympic events which then do nothing for the Oregonian economy. Actually, I wonder what gold-medal winner Ashley Eaton is now doing professionally. Can't be too much demand for decathlon medal winners?
@jpk My guess would be a decathlete? There's events all over the world he's in plus he probably has some nice sponsorships.
But the state cant help pay for roads appearently
@Cant_Get_Right Road projects are pointless. I always saw them building extra lanes this and that but nothing every really "improved".
...but we need new bridges also!
