Colorado scrambles to set up legal marijuana regulations

DENVER (AP) - Marijuana regulators who are considering how the drug should be taxed, sold and regulated in Colorado are facing a deadline to get their ideas to state officials.
A marijuana task force plans its final meeting Thursday. The task force is giving a lengthy set of recommendations to state lawmakers and the governor's office.
The marijuana task force has several questions still to work out. One big question is how to tax the newly legal drug.
Voters wanted excise taxes to go to school construction, but pot taxes will also have to pay for safety enforcement and drug education measures. Estimates vary widely on how large the marijuana market will be.
Only Colorado and Washington have legalized pot.

What's funny is that the government is trying to figure out a way to get into the weed business. But as we know, as soon as the government gets involved, it will no longer be profitable for anybody. They're going to spend so much bureaucratic capital setting up regulations and regulators that all of the tax money and revenue they draw from it will be spent sustaining the bureaucracy itself.
Tax it like Washington taxes spirits. They stand to make a bundle. Then Colorado can spend it on drug education methods. Drug Ed 101, buy a glass bong, it cleans easier, don't smoke and drive or you will burn your car seats. When you shotgun a hit, don't use a real shotgun. Be safe, don't be a dope.
Of course, for the left it's all about taxing.
I think it gives them a hard on.
Mellow out, Colorado! Druggies are on a different time schedule. They'll get around to it when they want to! LOL
A state full of pot addicts.....not too smart.
@sortbait Haha, welcome to Oregon, buddy!
@browntown @sortbait Welcome to Portland.
@TreeWizard @browntown @sortbait Most of what Portland stoners buy comes from Cottage Grove, Estacada, Clackamas County, Hood River, the Oregon Coast, Washington and northern California.
They don't call it "Humbolt" for nothin'. So, how does that fit into the whizwheel of hate?
What if the Aurora shooter had gotten stoned his car before the movie instead, like probably everybody does behind Rose Moyer Cinema?Â
Or what if he'd have just stayed home, gotten wasted and listened to Metallica records? (Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning or And Justice for All... waiwait... that's a bad example...)
@Playanekes He'd have been much better off just getting blazed out of his mind and playing Counter-strike all night.
Maybe they will go with the honor system.Everytime a dealer sells a bag, they will declare it as income...:)
And who collects the taxes? Somehow, I think there will be some tax evasion with this.Â
@washcomom No doubt, but they'll also rake it in... from something that cost the state money to making money, can't really go wrong.
Whenever I'm getting stoned while figuring out the details of marijuana regulation, I listen to TalkinS hit with Eddie Ifft. Â Check it out potheads!
