Reed College political science professor, Paul Gronke, and KATU's political reporter, Patrick Preston, joined KATU's Steve Dunn on "Your Voice, Your Vote" this Sunday to analyze possible outcomes in Tuesday's election.
From Portland’s mayoral contest to the President of the United States, the three delved into the nuances and polling data of the hot local and state races from both Oregon and Washington. Watch the entire show by clicking on the "Play Video" button above.
Additionally, every "Your Voice, Your Vote" show that aired this year can be found under KATU politics' video section. It's a great place to watch or re-watch shows dealing with the hot topics and candidates this election season.
Included also is the KATU debate between Washington's gubernatorial candidates, Republican Rob McKenna and Democrat Jay Inslee – a closely watched race that has been tight for months.
Meanwhile, if you still need to vote, it's too late to mail your ballot in the state of Oregon. You'll need to drop it off at an official drop-off site by 8 p.m. Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 6. Use the secretary of state's website to find an official drop-off site anywhere in the state.
In Washington, ballots must be postmarked on Election Day. But voters can drop them off at official drop boxes by 8 p.m. that day. Use the Washington secretary of state's ballot drop-off finder to find one near you.
Haven't seen it here but once again The Electoral College being abolished is being debated again... I guess it depends on whether one is satisfied with the winning candidate or whether your guy won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College vote....I have to ask myself Why would anyone outside of the Northeast and West Coast support such a stupid idea. Popular election of a president would ensure the tyranny of those areas upon all Americans in the nation. When less than a dozen major population centers decides the leadership of the nation, it destroys freedom and yes, popular sovereignty of all but those in those particular regions. Voting in the Mountain West, Great Plains, and Southeast would be an exercise in futility and illusion. In an era when the powers of the President and federal government far exceed their Constitutional boundaries, why create more tyranny than we're already forced to accept? The Electoral College certainly does NOT help the "elites"⦠it is one of the few things holding them back. The citizenry's acceptance that the Founders' wisdom should be thrown away so easily should be very troubling to anyone with intelligence, morality, or rational desire for fair political representation.
Of course I might change my mind again if the wrong, for me, candidate winsâ¦.just kidding⦠I admit our forefathers knew what they were doing â and it still works over 200 years laterâ¦Happy Votingâ¦.

@KHEB I agree. The founding fathers knew the dangers of a democracy. That's why they created a constitutional federal republic. Pure democracy leads to "mobocracy" (like lynchings in the wild west). The series of checks and balances, and state vs federal powers ensure that our basic freedoms stay guaranteed.
