KATU Poll: Rosenblum far ahead of Holton in AG race

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon attorney general candidate Ellen Rosenblum has a commanding lead over her rival, Dwight Holton, according to a KATU News/SurveyUSA poll released Thursday.

Out of 432 respondents likely to vote and those who had already voted, Rosenblum, a retired judge, received 52 percent of the vote while Holton, a former federal prosecutor, received 27 percent.

SurveyUSA conducted the poll between May 7 and May 10 and it had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.8 percent.

The pollsters found that 21 percent of the respondents were still undecided.

The race will be decided next Tuesday, May 15, because no Republicans filed for the race and both Rosenblum and Holton are Democrats.

SurveyUSA also polled 425 likely or actual voters in the Republican primary and, not surprisingly, found presumptive nominee Mitt Romney leading the pack with 58 percent. All of his competitors, except for Ron Paul, have quit the race.

Additionally, if the presidential race between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney were held today, the poll found Obama leading in Oregon 47 percent to 43 percent.
