GOP successful in write-in campaigns for state AG, treasurer

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Two Republicans were successful in their write-in campaigns for Oregon statewide offices.
Unofficial numbers released Wednesday show Portland attorney James Buchal (BYOO'-kul) will be the Republican nominee for attorney general in November. He'll face Democratic nominee Ellen Rosenblum, who will take over the office when incumbent John Kroger resigns later this month.
Business consultant Thomas Cox will face Democratic incumbent Ted Wheeler in the race for state treasurer.
Buchal and Cox launched write-in campaigns after the Republican Party did not field candidates to run for treasurer or attorney general. They'll be listed on the ballot in November if they formally accept the nomination after election results are certified next week.
