Senate reopened after suspicious case prompts evacuation
SALEM, Ore. – Tuesday’s Senate floor session was canceled because of a suspicious case found near an elevator.
State police said someone reported the case at around 10 a.m. The Senate was evacuated. No one was hurt.
The Senate had been scheduled to vote on four bills and confirm dozens of gubernatorial appointments.
Security checked the bag, which was a waterproof case used to carry camera lenses. The case contained camera and electronic equipment, police said.
The Senate wing was reopened at around 11 a.m. The case was returned to its owner, police said.

The suitcase was determined to have the work agenda for the day. Since the Senate is not used to working they found the suitcase to be very suspicious.
