Washington Senate passes Inslee's climate bill

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The Washington state Senate on Wednesday advanced a measure championed by Gov. Jay Inslee to study the best practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the measure, an outside consultant would review both Washington state's ongoing efforts to cut carbon emissions and similar endeavors elsewhere. It would then report back to the governor and legislative leaders.
As passed by the Senate, language warning of the perils of climate change was struck from the measure. Supporters say the bill would help the state reach its target of reducing 2020 greenhouse gas emissions levels to those of 1990.
The measure "has the ability to improve the state's energy independence and competiveness and grow many sectors of our economy," said Democratic Sen. Kevin Ranker of Orcas Island, the bill sponsor.
Also speaking in favor of the bill was Republican Sen. Doug Ericksen of Whatcom County, who said it would help the state identify how to reduce carbon emissions in "the most cost-effective fashion possible."
The bill passed by a vote of 37-12, with two Democrats and 10 Republicans voting against.
The only lawmaker speaking against the bill during the floor debate was Sen. Mike Carrell, R-Lakewood, a former high school science teacher and climate science skeptic.
"I think there's a lot of pseudoscience here," said Carrell, who questioned the causal link between carbon dioxide emissions and rising global temperatures. "I have no problem with the earth warming right now."
Inslee spokesman David Postman said the governor was pleased that the Senate had advanced the measure.
"It is a step toward dealing with carbon pollution and the effects of climate change," Postman said.
The governor does not support some of the amendments to the bill added by the upper chamber, Postman noted, including the removal of language in the intent section warning of climate change's destructive force.
Senate Bill 5802 heads next to the House.

With the middle class slipping into poverty fewer and fewer folks are able to afford all the regulations that the liberals are passing. Most folks I know are just into survival on a daily basis and their priorities are changing.
One of my very liberal neighbors is now burning all her paper and cardboard to save money on her energy costs. She has asked the whole neighborhood to giver her anything that will burn.
Last week I gave her a bunch of painted boards. She didn't care that they were painted as she can't afford her utilities as it is and wants to stay warm.
You can't stop mother nature!
It's not just that the BO administration wants to fundamentally change our Republic to socialism but also from the wealthiest nation to one among the Third World nations.Â
Noting the fact that our income buys us less and has done so for at least the last 15 years.
Noting our rights are being eroded away not only civil rights but the right of property ownership.
Noting that our government in 1950 employed 1.5 persons out of 100 and now it's 54/100 Â government has overtaken us.
Noting our current dictator circumvents Congress with executive orders not to benefit the people but to increase his command-and-control.
Noting that all societies that were put into servitude were denied the ability to defend themselves with the weapons of the day.
As clever as BO is I don't believe all of this could have been accomplished over the years by one man but it has been accomplished by one party. Even with that being said one party alone couldn't accomplish all of the attacks simultaneously as have been attacked against our rights and morality as citizens without an overriding timeless intelligence controlling each of the party members to this evil end that we are now facing.Â
To put it bluntly there is no other explanation than that the Democratic Party is controlled over time by the devil. Every agenda, every outcome has targeted the morality, freedoms of this Christian formed nation. As a result the blessings that we once all benefited from our drying up rapidly.Â
An old movie classic once showed how integrity, honesty and caring for others being absent from the world can make such a dramatic change. Â (It's a wonderful life, starring Jimmy Stewart 1946 )

with that above Article and this article we have a massive issue happening to our freedoms , rights and privacy, we are no longer the US..we have become a communist nation. It is a slow process but what will emerge is something no one will like.
How arrogant can these people be? We can change the weather? Al Gore didn't mention the little inconvenient fact that global temperature LAGS carbon dioxide levels. It wouldn't have fit the agenda. The earth has been heating and cooling since it's beginning. Now scientists are saying that the sun has a lot more to do with climate change than we thought. REALLY??
Now, that our economy is in the toilet, let's just heap on more costly, and utterly futile, regulation to hasten our economic enslavement. That they want our guns too is merely a coincidence.
@Conspirator I would like to know how they propose to end volcanoes from spewing carbon Dioxide, Monoxide, carbon, Sulpher Dioxide, and the like in to the atmosphere, there are currently 53 active volcanoes that are spewing actively at the moment..hmm I might have been generous with that number..not sure ..at any rate.. Better start fining Nature.
@lee986321 Volcanic eruptions can lead to global cooling, as they've done many times in the past. Therefore, they need to be subsidized, not fined.
this climate bill is a bad joke.
