Wyden staffer appointed to Oregon House

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners has selected Democrat Barbara Smith Warner of Portland for a vacant seat in the Oregon House of Representatives.

Commissioners unanimously backed Smith Warner on Tuesday. The county says Smith Warner told commissioners she's a field representative for U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden. She also says she's involved in her children's school and her neighborhood association in Northeast Portland.

Smith Warner replaces Michael Dembrow, who moved up to the Senate after Jackie Dingfelder resigned to work for Portland Mayor Charlie Hales.
