Wyden's wife gives birth to daughter

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden's wife, Nancy Bass Wyden, has given birth to a girl. It's the couple's third child.
Wyden's office says Scarlett Willa Wyden was born at 8:51 a.m. Thursday at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, and that the mother and newborn are doing fine. The girl weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.
Nancy Bass Wyden is co-owner of New York's Strand Bookstore. She and the senator married in September 2005. She gave birth to twins in October 2007.
Wyden has two adult children from a previous marriage.
The 63-year-old Democrat was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996.

good job grandpa
Congrats, but I thought she was over 300 lbs................
Congradulations to our irresponsible senator from New York City...... While Ronny may have a home in Eastmorland, he is raising his family in NEW YORK CITY.
And I say irresponsible because anytime one becomes a father at the age that one  surpasses  the life expectancy age before ones child graduates from high school IS irresponsible.
Condradulations to our fine senator from Oregon.
Scarlett Willa...what a pretty name. Congrats to the parents!
Another who cares story.
@Scotty9 Why do you even bother to comment?

Â
Because I live in a delusional world that hopes that some how, some way, millions of Americans will wake up one morning and say, "Gee, I have my own life to live; why am I wasting time reading, listening or watching other people, who I don't even know, live theirs."
So the Donkey beat the Elephant in giving birth, too!
Anyone having a kid at age 63 is missing something upstairs. Â He will be lucky if he is alive when the child finishes high school. Â Oh well, he is a politician and that means he has an enormous ego.
Oh boy!! Another Wyden running around gives me the heebie-jeebies and I can only hope she does not like him. Just my humble opinion.
It should have read, 'I can only hope she does 'look' like him...Â
@boned Perhaps she might look a little like both of her parents like most people do.Regardless, isn't a bit petty to comment on a 63 year old polititian's looks.Afterall,I bet you are a looker yourself?
You are kidding. Â He has to be retirement age. Â wow. Â Not impressed.
Congrats on a new Resident of the State of New York!
Obviously: both parents are in Oregon. Baby was born on the Hill / OHSU.
@Cindy B. ........the Widens live in New York, Cindy
@I812   """"" The Wydens own residences in both Oregon and New York. Wyden's official residence is in Oregon. Otherwise he could not legally hold a US Senate position from Oregon."""""
I guess you just fell off the turnup truck. While Ronny does own a home in Eastmorland, They are raising their family in New York City. Their kids go to New York Schools!!!  Google Ronny's wife you can find many articles that say she is an ACTIVE manager in the family bookstore. Hard to do that from DC or PDX.
@Cindy B. ....when Ron did the John Kerry thing and married into wealth he took up his wife's residence. He come here to campaign and fund raise.
@Rob C 503 Well, she got the last word and we both know what that is like, don't we?  I will take your comment as truth!!
@Cindy B. You got it all right, Cindy. The Wydens own residences in both Oregon and New York. Wyden's official residence is in Oregon. Otherwise he could not legally hold a US Senate position from Oregon.
Thanks, Rob C. I thought we were electing an Oregonian who spent time in NY vs. a New Yorker who just happened to be fond of us.
Â
Birth certificate will say Oregon, think I got that part right.
Considering a previous intervention for prostate cancer, he was lucky to be able to produce another child.

@boned Interesting that you should ask if I had seen mutant/malformed spermatozoa. YES, I was a medical lab tech followed by being a science major (hoping to go to med school) once upon a long time ago. I just happened to pull up the article from the Huff because it was available. Tell me your fave conservative paper and I will go look for a link there for you. (The Huff article has a quote from the Senator ... verifying his health issue.)
Malformed sperm might have a short tail or deformed head. Remember, they look a lot like a tadpole. One of the issues with aging men is their sperm become slower or too slow to move into position to create life. (Let's not go into whether life begins at conception, okay?)
@Cindy B.  @boned So what does a mutant/malformed spermatozoa look like? Would I know one if I see one?
Why is this news?
@Jamie It makes press for all the Omama lovers. Why do you think?? I am curious...
Good Lord isn't he a little old to  have a kids.
@riderofthelegend Nope...apparently no rust in the bucket yet :)
Congrats to them, with three kids how does MR Wyden find time to work lol?
@lee986321 He doesn't work - where have you been? Oh, I forgot for a moment that you are a Gregoire fan, right??
I am sure this child will have a great home and receive the attention of good and loving parents, unlike far too many other children these days. Personally, I just wouldn't want to be watching my child graduate from high school at age 81 or from college at age 85.
Congratulations, the both of you.
Now, the headline says, "Wyden's wife gives birth to daughter". Is that not the usual fashion?! ];->
@Gravity Works! Unless it is a boy, then the headline reads a bit differently.
@I812 Uhhhmmm, yeah, thanks.  Way to spoil it for everyone!  ];->
Congratulations, Ron!! I always voted for you, and I'm pleased about your new daughter : )
