Discussing about tax reform is good. I just hope that they can formulate lots of possible solutions that they can implement soon.

I think that there will be a never ending date about tax reform. If we can really see improvements in our country then people will not complain about their taxes anymore.

NO SALES TAX! Any POS politico that has ANY idea of forcing one on us should be removed from office.
Yes. A sales tax is exactly what we need but only to out of state buyers. If you show your Oregon ID then your exempt.
I guess that might be a nightmare for retailers. I just would like to get back at the states that charge us sales tax.
It's been voted down, what, 9 times? And yet they still don't get it. Â
NO NO NO....
It won't help people already stuggling to pay bills. Stop bring it back to the table! The people have spoken over and over again against a sales tax... yet it keeps coming back. And it doesn't reduce other taxes... it just adds more! NO!!
I do not believe a state sales tax will benefit the state as a whole. Sale tax is a regressive tax taking a higher percent from the middle and lower income families. Please stop trying to figure out willy coyote ways to avoid taxing the rich. The rich have the money take it from them. I suggest mandating a temporary tax on those making over $250k until the economy can support all Americans. When employment number rise significantly, worker paid is not just a living wage but a prosperous wage, education is within reach of everyone, home ownership is possible for all, medical care, food and shelter are rights, every family can have healthy fresh food, clean water and air. Then and only then will the tax rate on the rich decline.
Â
Import people from other states wanting to put a regressive tax in Oregon. "Hoping" it will replace other taxes.
Â
It won't.
Â
You add a sales tax be prepared to pay the same property, gas, income, fees, bonds, levies, "special districts" and fines you pay now PLUS a sales tax.
Â
A sales tax hurts lower income people more than higher, it has NEVER replaced a tax when added and in the end will not solve ANY budget issue.
Â
The people who propose this don't think long term, don't understand we ALL pauy the same taxes (you think property owners don't pass property tax onto their residents?) and don't care about lower income people.
Â
NO SALES TAX IN OREGON!
Â
.

My Voice - My Vote?

Sales tax: No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. No...
Take off property tax  but only for properties that is less than  $500- 600 thousands worth, and let's have sales tax. No sales tax for food but more for luxury items such as big boats, and sales tax for cars only for the amount that exceeds $30K. No sales tax for trees and vegetable plants either. Legitimize Marijuana and tax it  the highest. No tax for adopting pets, but tax for buying pets. No tax for medical devices and appliances, senior devices; baby furniture and baby items; they are already priced so much since they know people cannot go without them.Â
No no and heck no. Ya, you say the other taxes will go down. Let me end the sentence, for a while. Now if you want to get rid of the property tax and go with a sales tax, I could go for that.
