Mayoral candidate has 4 suspensions on his driving record

So, I'm all in favor of learning more dirt on Jefferson Smith. However, let the dirt be equal-opportunity. Such as, didn't I recall hearing that Charlie Hales voted in Oregon elections while still living in the State of Washington? And, isn't it also true that the Streetcar projects do a lot to comfort the Pearl, The South Waterfront, and other west-side folk instead of the east-side (until recently)? It's also odd to observe that the streets in The Pearl District are overall nicer than in "Felony Flats". I don't think that Jefferson Smith is perfect, and also maybe an attention hog. However, Charlie Hales is bought-and-paid for, and will serve the elite of the community. I saw the most Charlie Hales signs while driving in and around SW Hills. Not a coincidence. Besides, I think it's rather "Chris-Dudley" to vote in our elections when you are living in Washington to save $40,000.00 a year in taxes that would benefit our schools which you profess to care so much about. 

Although I find it strange that his license has been suspended 4 times, fortunately I won't have to decide to vote for him or not.  I feel sorry for Portland.  Your choices are horrible for your future.  Well in my opinion anyway...

Wow, this is hardly news compared to public restroom fooling around with an underage indiviidual and Portlanders were fine with that.

Suspended for what??? I think that would be a question that needs to be answered. Is it because of DUI? If so, is the fact that he is a possible alcoholic an issue with anyone? It is with me. He feels his driving record is an embarrassment, but he just may need to own up to why the suspensions in the first place.

So this guy is so defiant he can't abide by the laws of our roads and yet wants me to trust his running my city.... I think not !

Getting your licensed suspended once says a lot - unpaid parking ticket, driving ticket. etc. 4 times though? Even normal citizens don't have that problem.

Whatever, as long as he doesn't support fluoride in the water, this is nothing.

'Normal' people never have their license suspended even once let alone multiple times.

That being said, I doubt either will do anything to iprove the condition of the city.

So What?  He's human.  If he become's Mayor he can be chauffeured around or ride public transportation.

Pretending people are perfect is one of the most ridiculous expectations....

Suspended for WHAT? Minor details that could make a difference.. maybe not at this point he's probably done for. 

You know he has some issues if he wants to be mayor of Portland.  No one in their right mind would want to be mayor of that miserable place.  Past recent history proves that.

He's done. If you can't handle taking care of something as simple as keeping a drivers license how are you going to be able to handle being mayor? Oh wait....being deceptive is okay in Portland. Never mind, you have a distinct advantage now.

What's the BIG DEAL; it's not as if Portland's Mayor does anything....

Seems to me if the  citizens of PDX re-elected Sammy  not once but TWICE  after  he admitted to mackin on a minor in the mens room  and bangin his brains out not too long after that........ then having ones license suspended  seems like a rather non-issue.

Um, pretty sure this is old news.  I swear I learned about this during the debates or from one of Willamette Week's articles last spring.  Memory9 makes some excellent points.  At any rate, give me someone who may have had paperwork issues over a known tax fraud that abandoned his position serving the city to move to Vancouver and was no longer paying into our infrastructure but continued to vote here.

There are other states that don't recognize Oregon License suspensions because Oregon suspends licenses for insufficient reasons without due process. Did you know that if you get a ticket for no insurance and even if the court exonerates you the Oregon Dept of Licensing may suspend your license a year later if they do a random check to see if you have vehicle insurance.If there is no insurance record you get your licnese suspended and it costs $75 to get it back. They don't even check to see if you own a vehicle.

He never should have left his good gig on "Married with Children".

Nothing like a sh** faced driver bumbling around city hall, signing laws or ordinances he's too inebriated to read or understand, and driving public vehicles into lawsuits.  Scrap this candidate right now.

Is "clean driving record" listed in the requirements for the position?
