Randy Leonard throws support behind Smith in mayoral race

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland City Commissioner Randy Leonard announced that he is endorsing Jefferson Smith in the race for Portland’s next mayor.
Smith currently represents District 47 in the Oregon House. He is also the founder of the Bus Project, an organization that seeks to involve more young people in politics.
Leonard says Smith is a "forward-looking leader with the right experience and a record of getting results."
“I think he’s good at inspiring people in speeches," Leonard said. "I’ve been in crowds while he’s given talks. But he’s also great at working behind the scenes to get the support he needs to actually pass an initiative.”
Smith is running against Charlie Hales and Eileen Brady. The primary election takes place Tuesday, May 15th.
