Rob Nosse appointed to Oregon Legislature

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Multnomah County Commission has appointed Rob Nosse (NOHSS) to a vacant seat in the Oregon Legislature.

Commissioners made the appointment on Thursday, and Nosse will be sworn in on July 7.

Nosse won last month's Democratic primary in the east Portland district, one of Oregon's most liberal, and he's likely to win handily in November.

Nosse is a union representative for the Oregon Nurses Association and longtime gay rights activist.

He replaces Democrat Jules Bailey, who resigned after he was elected to the Multnomah County Commission.
