Colin Powell endorses Obama for second term
WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a longtime Republican, is sticking with President Barack Obama in this year's election.
He told a morning news program he respects Mitt Romney but thinks he's been vague on many issues.
Speaking of Obama, Powell said the president got the United States out of Iraq and has laid out a plan for leaving Afghanistan "and didn't get us into any new wars."
He praises Obama's economic performance, saying that while difficult choices are ahead on taxes, spending and budgetary policies, "steadily, I think we've begun to come out of the dive and we're gaining altitude."
Powell, a retired general, also formerly was a White House chief of staff and chairman of the military's Joint Chief of Staffs.
Powell says that he's still a Republican.

Obama should be running for the hills. Maybe Powell is trying to sink Obamas chances by endorsing him. Certainly not an endorsement I'd want.

As I read the comments on this forum it's painfully obvious that we are the most undereducated citizens of any 1st world country on the planet. We like our news in tweetable soundbites. We rely on talking heads to tell us what to think because we're too busy watching Baby Boo Boo and Dancing with the Stars to do our own homework.....and THAT'S how people get away with lying right to our faces....it's sad, really. Dumbass Americans who are too fat and to lazy to think for themselves, who don't know how to educate themselves, who lack the critical thinking skills to cut through the BS.

What, you don't like what this country has become? You don't like the fact that our educational system sucks? that our drop out rate is through the roof? that people are underskilled, underpaid, and can't compete for jobs? You really believe that it comes down to one person sitting in an office in DC and that's what it's going to take?

People in this country need to stop blaming our leaders for getting us to where we are today and start accepting some responsibility for their own selfishness, ignorance and apathy. We've become a bloated, self-absorbed, functionally retarded society, and neither Obama nor Romney is going to change that.

You want real change? tangible change? Start with yourself. Get off your ass, go volunteer somewhere, put yourself out there and be of service, help a kid with their algebra homework (assuming you passed it yourself), help someone learn to read, learn a new skill yourself, put down the burger and get on a treadmill...the list goes on and on.

We have the POTENTIAL of being the greatest country on the planet, but we're not going to get there until we stop patting ourselves on the back and realize that we haven't arrived yet...that there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Being a former Secretary of State I would think that Mr Powell would appreciate how crucial foreign relations and foreign policy is.
This has been one of Obama's big failures and apparently he doesn't see it or his domestic policy shortcomings.

 @Festivus It depends on the context of how it's used. I have seen many  of your posts and consider you a little more intelligent than some (most) on here. Arguing that Colin Powell does not cast his vote (in 2008 and now) based on skin color (at least partially) goes against what he admits.
