It may seem like the warmth of summer will never get here. But you don’t have to wait for it to stop raining to get out and enjoy Oregon agriculture. Springtime is a great time of year to experience unique Oregon agriculture adventures and make family memories that will last a lifetime.
Ag-adventures are great fun for your family and they help our farmers prosper. Depending on where you live, you can enjoy a short trip, or make a full day out of it. Here are five ag-adventures around Oregon taking place in April and May 2014:
1. Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn March 28th- May 4th
2. Hood River Bloom Festival April 11-27th
3. Master Gardener Arbor Day fun in Polk County April 12th
4. Oregon Ag FEST April 26-27th in Salem
5. Clackamas County Master Gardner’s Spring Festival May 3rd & 4th
You won’t need much for any of these ag-adventures, but like any day trip, think about the few things your family likes to have on the go. Snacks are always a good idea to have on hand. You’ll be in extraordinary scenery that will be holiday card worthy, so be sure you have you have a way to capture and share the experience with your mobile phone or camera. Also, few places take credit cards, and more are likely to take cash, personal checks.
Don’t forget, Mother’s Day is May 11th and that means plant sales around the state. Oregon nurseries grow some of the highest quality, widest variety of plants in the world. May is a great time to put seeds in the ground and watch the plants grow as your family grows over the years.
