SEATTLE (AP) - Early February trips to Hawaii are old hat for Seattle's Lofa Tatupu, Julian Peterson and especially Walter Jones.

They'll have plenty of advice for Marcus Trufant.

Six Seahawks were named to the NFC roster for the Pro Bowl on Tuesday, including Trufant, who will be making his first trip and starting at cornerback.

Accompanying those four will be defensive end Patrick Kerney, the NFL leader in sacks, and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, having the best season of his career. All but Hasselbeck will be starters in the Feb. 10 all-star event.

Seattle's six selections were third in the NFC behind Dallas (11) and Minnesota (7).

One name missing was veteran receiver Bobby Engram, who last week topped the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. Engram is 13th in the league in yards receiving (1,013) and his 85 receptions are tied for ninth. Still, Engram was bypassed for Dallas' Terrell Owens, Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald, St. Louis' Torry Holt and Green Bay's Donald Driver.

On Monday, Engram said he believed he deserved the honor after 12 seasons in the league, but was unsure how the voting would break down.

"(Engram) should be in the Pro Bowl," coach Mike Holmgren said Monday. "He is just a better player than I think people realize."

Seattle's improved defense is largely due to the outstanding play of Trufant in the secondary and the pressure being provided up front by Kerney and Peterson. The Seahawks are 13th in the NFL in total defense and their 17.2 points per game allowed is fifth in the league.

Kerney still leads the league in sacks with 13½, despite getting shut out in Sunday's 13-10 loss at Carolina. Peterson, who will make his fourth Pro Bowl trip, has added nine sacks from his outside linebacker position and was selected for the second consecutive season after signing with Seattle in the 2006 offseason.

Kerney made his only other Pro Bowl appearance in 2004 while with Atlanta, when he had his previous career high of 13 sacks.

He had seven sacks in November alone, when he was named NFC defensive player of the month.

Meanwhile, Trufant is second in the NFC in interceptions and second on the team in tackles, and has regularly contained many of the league's best receivers. He had three interceptions on Dec. 9 when Seattle wrapped up its fourth consecutive NFC West title with a 42-21 win over Arizona.

Tatupu may have cemented his third Pro Bowl selection in a row with his Dec. 2 performance at Philadelphia, when Seattle's leading tackler had 11 stops and intercepted a career-high three passes.

Jones has continued to excel, despite a shoulder injury that has limited his practice ability all season. Jones' selection is his seventh in a row and eighth overall.

Of Seattle's selections, Hasselbeck may be having the best season, but will play behind Green Bay's Brett Favre and Dallas' Tony Romo.

With Seattle's anemic running game, the Seahawks' offense has rested on Hasselbeck's right arm, and he has thrived, completing 62.5 percent of his passes, for 3,620 yards and 25 touchdowns. He needs just 222 yards in the final two games to best his franchise record of 3,841 yards in 2003 and two more touchdowns for a new career high. It will be Hasselbeck's third Pro Bowl.

Nate Burleson was also named an alternate as a punt/kick returner.
