This is a press release from the Portland Beavers:

PORTLAND, Ore. – Shawn Wooten clubbed a go-ahead two-run homer, Chip Ambres hit his 15th of the season and Clay Hensley earned his first win of the year as the Portland Beavers beat the Tucson Sidewinders 4-3 before 7,391 Friday night at PGE Park.

The win was Portland’s sixth in its last eight games and its 14th one-run victory of the season.

Hensley (1-1) worked a season-high six innings and held the Sidewinders to three runs and six hits to qualify for his first win since joining the Beavers (38-35).

Joe Thatcher, who hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 10 outings for Portland, closed out things with 1 1/3 innings for his second save with the club.

Wooten’s blast with Will Venable aboard in the fourth erased a one-run deficit and held up to give the Beavers their fourth one-run victory in a row.

Tucson’s Evan MacLane (3-6) matched his season high with seven innings of work and yielded four runs (3 earned) on seven hits for the loss, Tucson’s fifth in its last seven games.

Brett Dowdy doubled and scored from third on a two-out throwing error, and Ambres hit a solo home run in the third off MacLane as the Beavers took a 2-0 lead.

Tucson (29-47) passed up the Beavers with three runs in the top of the fourth. Jamie D’Antona hit an RBI double and later scored on a groundout, and Trent Oeltjen’s ground-rule double plated Wilkin Castillo to give the Sidewinders a 3-2 lead.

After taking three of the four games in their series with the Sidewinders, the Beavers travel to Tacoma Saturday night to begin a four-game series with their nearest division rivals.

NOTES: The Beavers improved to 6-2 against the Sidewinders and 14-8 in one-run games … Tucson dropped to 14-27 in road games … the Beavers drew 17,942 fans over the final two games of the series … Thatcher lowered his season ERA with the Beavers to 1.26.
