Source: Surgery reveals damage to RG3's ACL

WASHINGTON (AP) - A person familiar with the situation says Robert Griffin III's surgery is over, with repairs made to two knee ligaments.
The Washington Redskins quarterback had surgery Wednesday morning on a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. The person said the procedure also repaired damage found in Griffin's ACL.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Redskins had not made an announcement about the latest details surrounding the rookie quarterback's injury.
Griffin sprained the LCL last month and reinjured the knee in Sunday's playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He also tore the ACL in the same knee while playing for Baylor in 2009.
The person did not give an immediate assessment of Griffin's potential recovery time.

The boy should have sat.
Â
Does he want to play? Yeah but who doesn't. He's a kid and even if he sucked at football and sold used cars he has 6 more decades he will need that knee for.
Â
He is a good player. Without this aggravating injury he would still be sitting at home right now and likely had all summer to heal up and get strong. Now he will miss all preseason and much of the season next year healing from this injury and surgery.
Â
All of this for 14 points his backup could have gotten.
Â
Â
This is where a coach needs to step in and tell a guy he has to sit. I bet this injury took years off his playing and maybe added years of him in pain.
