NEW ORLEANS (AP) — People familiar with the negotiations say the framework of a three-team trade is in place to send Hornets All-Star guard Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Houston Rockets are the other team involved, and have agreed to send forward Louis Scola, shooting guard Kevin Martin and point guard Goran Dragic to New Orleans, the people told The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal was not finalized.

The people say final details of the trade are still being worked out and it is not immediately clear which other players are involved.

If the Hornets had tried to keep Paul, the four-time All Star would have been able to opt out of his current contract after the upcoming season.
