Yahoo: Ducks and NCAA don't reach agreement on violations

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon and the NCAA could not reach an agreement to settle an investigation about potential violations, according to a report by Yahoo! Sports.
Yahoo! reporters Charles Robinson and Rand Getlin cited two anonymous sources that the “summary disposition” process, which is essentially a plea bargain from the university, fell through.
“The sources said Oregon is now anticipating an appearance before the NCAA's committee on infractions (COI) this spring – something the school was hoping to avoid following an investigation into the football program's financial relationship with prep adviser Will Lyles.”
KATU News has been routinely requesting public records from the University over the past year in an attempt to shine some light on the investigation. Earlier emails indicated the university was actively pursuing a “summary disposition.”
“The sources said the committee ultimately did not accept Oregon's presentment, disagreeing with ‘various aspects’ of both the infractions the school believed occurred, and the sanctions the school deemed appropriate,” Yahoo! reported.

"The review is ongoing until the NCAA Committee on Infractions issues its final report," athletic department spokesman Craig Pintens told KATU in an email. "The integrity of the process and our continued full cooperation with the NCAA prohibits us from publicly discussing the specifics of this matter."
KATU also reached out to officials at the NCAA to comment on the report. We have not yet heard back.

Oregon failed to get a summary disposition in its NCAA investigation. Ducks vs. Will Lyles will go to an NCAA hearing. tinyurl.com/callorg

The DUCKS won't agree to the terms of their punishment? What's up with that? The Ducks are going to stomp their feet and drag this all out longer and further. Just because... come on arrogant Ducks. Come on...
Â
More likely just like with USC - the deal will be made and the U of O will "agree" to the terms of their subsequent punishments - perhaps bowl sanctions - only after Chipster is gone. Long gone. Just like Pete Carroll abandoning ship and getting a sweetheart deal with the Seahawks. Pete Carroll and Chippity Doo Dah will be long gone to the NFL making bigger names for themselves. All about themselves. Only .
Â
Isn't that more like it, people? Ick Chip Kelly - ICK.Â
@englishdaisy And just to further this mans prophetic ability, "Chipster" as he humorously put it, is now in fact the head-coach of the Philly Eagles. Derp.Â
Kelly's running a dirty program and everyone knows it. If U of O could not cut a deal with the high powered attorneys (fixers) they have hired then it must be pretty blatant and flagrant. Of course Kelly will still collect his millions. When U of O gets penalized with loss of bowl game or Pac 12 championship eligibility, look for Kelly to jump ship for the pros (even though he is personally responsible for the violations). I'm not sure Kelly's system will work in the pros, and as more people get used to it and prepare for it, it may not work as well in the college ranks. Winning at all costs does not make one a winner.
Sounds like its time for phil baby to break out the check book.
Look for Phil Knight to get involved with his pocket book, and if that dont work look for Chip Kelly to head for the Pros this time around, In the same manner as Pete Carroll....
Scholarships taken away and a 2 year bowl ban. This is what I believe will happen. The NCAA infractions committee hits hard when universities get caught.
Â
Loss of a few scholarships and a one year bowl ban. That seems to be the NCAA's new minimum punishment lately.
Bring on the sanctions! Can't wait.
@peckishpete Will you cry if nothing happens?
Reduction in scholarships and visits should be pretty close to what we get. Also I don't think any post season bans will be implemented. If that does happen the NCAA would be going way overboard.Â
@Jeff R Halvorsen I think the NCAA has a different mindset after the Penn State debacle. I suspect violations will be treated more harshly in the future so the NCAA can say they are not supporting the type of culture that places football above the law or the rules governing the college game.Â
@Jeff R Halvorsen    Maybe if they went "way overboard" all the time, the schools would be a LOT more careful...as it is, most get a slap on the wrist, or maybe reduction in scholarships....and figure "OH Well"......it's not a suspension so no problem!

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, plays like a duck, DUCK!
Couldn't agree on which wrist to slap?
This is bad news for Oregon Football. Basically it means the NCAA thinks what they did is worse than what Oregon thinks it did was. I'm guessing the sanctions will be at least to the extent of the sanctions USC was given.
@Portlander29 They should be at least the same, probably more than what USC got.
@USC Trojan Fan  @Portlander29 You wish lol! USC had a lot more going on than some BS recruiter. Â
@USC Trojan Fan  @Portlander29 Will do chief!
@Jeff R Halvorsen  @Portlander29 You stay classy Jeff
@USC Trojan Fan  @Portlander29 Again have fun at your Milk Dud bowl. Moving on!
@anahit Clearly you haven't read anything regarding the USC case at all. Your comment is just gibberish
@Jeff R Halvorsen  @Portlander29 We will recover just fine Jeff. 11 National Titles, 7 Heisman winners, 473 1st round NFL draft picks, 24 Rose Bowl wins in 33 appearances. I think USC will be just fine. By the way Jeff, how many National Titles does Oregon have? How many Heisman winners? How many Rose Bowl wins? 2 in 5 appearances? I am happy for Oregon recent success, but fans like you bring no respect to your program or team. Enjoy the success while you can. Let's hope you can recover from the upcoming sanctions as quickly as USC will
@USC Trojan Fan Your comment manages to have virtually zero internal context, conflates two vastly different situations, and calls the USC investigation a "witch hunt".  Credibility, you lack it.
Â
And no, I'm not a Duck fan. Â I just prefer reasonable arguments.
@USC Trojan Fan  @Portlander29 Looks like a lot more to me =) have fun at your cheetos/ tacos bowl lol.Â
@Jeff R Halvorsen@Portlander29
Actually Jeff, you are wrong. Did you know, the infractions committee chair at the time USC was sanctioned was Paul Dee....Paul Dee was the University of Miami Athletic Director from 1993 to 2008....that's right.....and look what they are investigating was going on under his watch. Also, USC got hit for Lack of Institutional Control over a player's parents receiving benefits.....I suppose Chip knows exactly what each of his players parents are doing yes........lastly, apparently you aren't aware that an judge recently ruled that 1) there is evidence the NCAA acted âmalicious[ly]â towards McNair; 2) evidence provided the NCAA had âreckless disregard for the truthâ; 3) the NCAA âshould have knownâ aspects of the infractions report were âdemonstrably untrueâ; 4) the NCAA infractions report âcontained material false statementsâ pertaining to a call between McNair and Lloyd Lake; and 5) McNair has proven âactual maliceâ. The case is McNair vs NCAA. Look it up. Oregon on the other hand, paid excessive money for access to recruits. Clear violations of NCAA rules.....not the witch hunt they launched on USC.
Read up on the USC case before you talk about what you think you know they did
@Portlander29 They will not get hit that hard. At most it will be loss of Scholarships. Tennessee got handed a similar penalty for having interactions with that doofus. Â
sounds fishy to me.. Â
