EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - The 81-year-old McArthur Court at the University of Oregon won't be the site of basketball games anymore, after the school completes construction on its new basketball arena.

But that doesn't mean that the beloved building will sit empty.

A new committee of faculty, staff, a student and an alumnus will be recommending new uses for Mac Court.

University of Oregon President Dave Frohnmayer said university officials are committed to using the site for "academic purposes."

Recommendations from the new committee on Mac Court's future are due by early next year.
