LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Oregon State University Beavers traveled to L.A. hoping to defeat Pete Carroll's team for the second straight year. But there was one problem: this game was played at the L.A. Coliseum, where OSU hasn't won since way back in 1960.

It turned out to indeed be a tough one for the Beavers. University of Southern California led 21 to 9 points at half-time, thanks to a pass from Matt Barkley to Ronald Johnson.

The Beavers picked it up in the third quarter, as a Sean Canfield pass brought them within five points of overtaking USC. Canfield threw for three scores, but the Trojans' Damian Williams took an 83-yard punt return in for a touchdown and USC took the game 42 to 36.
