Duck Football: Tyner backs off commitment

It was roughly a month ago that Oregon recruit Thomas Tyner shattered state records with 643 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Now it appears he's re-thinking his verbal commitment to the Ducks.
After a couple of online recruiting websites reported that the the Aloha senior running back had de-commited from Oregon, he posted this to his Twitter page Tuesday night:
"How do I know where I'm truly happy if I haven't put myself out there yet? Still love my Ducks. Gotta do what i gotta do."
This doesn't mean that Tyner won't end up signing with Oregon, just that he's going to weigh his options.
has he considered Southern Oregon University?
The "Still love my Ducks" comment doesn't always mean anything. My nephew was an avid Beaver fan until it came time to get recruited. He had to do what was best for him career wise and ended up playing for the Ducks (yes, I still talk to him). Tyner may be a Duck fan but he may want to go to "the other local school" because he would probably get more playing time. The Ducks are the "in" team to play for but they are just like USC used to be. So deep in talent that a lot of good players are going to waste because they never get any playing time. It's up to Tyner to choose a school that needs a running back and will play him as soon as he learns the playbook. I believe that he would receive that chance at OSU but I am sure he will have a lot of other offers. The kid is unbelievable! Enjoy riding the wave of interest in your talent Tyner!!
He'd probably play right away at Oregon St. Maybe that is what he is thinking now that the Beavs appear to be getting better.
@peckishpete Don't get your hopes up. Did you see his comment: "Still love my ducks"?
My bet is that he'll end up staying home. He wants to experience the attention associated with his accomplishments on the field, I can't fault him for that... It's a fine line to walk, as there are boosters out there willing to pay for play. Oregon is a tough place to get a job at Running Back. Look at the list of 4 and 5 star recruits that washed out because they didn't work hard enough and get passed by a recruit ranked (gasp) lower than them.
Oh, man! That headline made me think there was some crazy game where they use a duck for a football! Talk about your disillusionments.....
No matter what, it is a great PR move for him. It puts him in the national conversation to a degree exceeding even where he was at before. I hope in the end, he goes to the Ducks. Speed is king, and that combination is a match made in heaven.
I think Tyner would be happy playing with Boise State. They have an awesome program and Coach Pete is the best.
@ah Boise over Eugene? Don't get your hopes up.
I wonder if it's a matter of sitting on the bench, or starting right away. Would hate to see this kind of talent playing out-of-state. Maybe he's catching Beaver Fever...  :-P
